In the 1982 Conan movie a form of concentrated fake blood that had to be mixed with water was used. This fake blood was to be mixed with water, but the weather was so cold special effects personnel mixed it with Vodka to keep it from freezing. In the scenes where the actors were supposed to spit blood, they would instead swallow it and go back to special effects for another shot
